9 Oct 2020 by Mallow United PRO

There were mixed fortunes for our U18s and U17s in their Cup semi-finals at the weekend as both fixtures were decided by penalty shoot-outs. The U18s got the better of Bandon in their nail bitter on Saturday after the fixture finished level in normal time and will now face Douglas Hall in the final. Mark Tobin scored both goals for Mallow, the first an excellent volley and the second from a penalty after he had been taken down by the Bandon defence. Mallow lead 2-0 at half time but Bandon fought back to make it 2-2 at full time. Mallow goalkeeper Kevin Fitzpatrick was the hero for the second weekend in a row after his penalty save saw the Mallow boys progress to the final. The U17s travelled to Carrigaline on Sunday with the game finishing 1-1 after 90 minutes with Shane O’Connell scoring for Mallow however it was Carrigaline who came out on top in the penalty shoot-out.
