Mallow United were delighted to welcome Hourihan Sportsfield Developments Ltd to St Gobnaits Park last Thursday as they began the much anticipated development project at the site.
St. Gobnaits Park is the traditional home of underage soccer in Mallow and we are embarking on an ambitious project to transform our grounds here into a modern facility to serve all members of the club and the wider community.
The project includes the installation of an all weather synthetic training pitch to be used by our boys and girls academies, our schoolboy and schoolgirl teams, our football for all and our youth and adult teams.
As the only all weather pitch on the south side of Mallow the facility will also act as an invaluable amenity to the local community including local schools.
The project will also include the upgrade of the existing grass pitch with drainage, leveling and laying of a sand based pitch with increased capacity to host games.
There has been a lot of work done by people both inside and outside the club to get the project to its current stage and there is a lot more work to do to see it to completion. The club will soon be announcing a new St. Gobnaits Park fundraising initiative that they will be inviting the community to get behind.
