Following on from the release of the FAI Safe Return to Training Protocol last Monday, Mallow United is delighted to announce that the club is now in the process of preparing for a return to action for the coming season. The club has appointed three Covid-19 Officers (Judy Long, Noel McSweeney and Karol O’Donovan) who are busy ensuring that the guidelines issued by the FAI in collaboration with the Department of Health can be adhered to and that Mallow United players can return to training in a safe environment in the coming weeks. The protocol includes the completion of a risk assessment, ensuring availability of hand washing facilities and appropriate signage and limitations on the number of people allowed in the area training. As with all Covid-19 restrictions these will be subject to change based on Department of Health guidelines.
Mallow United will field an increasing number of teams in the Munster Senior League, Cork Youth League, Cork Schoolboys League, Cork Womens and Girls Soccer League and Football for All. All leagues have taken the decision to start a new season when permitted to do so by the FAI and so any outstanding competitions from last season will not be completed. The club will also resume both the Boys and Girls Soccer Academies.
It will be a busy season for the club both on and off the field as the planned development of St. Gobnaits Park, which to date has involved preparatory ground works, is set to gather pace in the coming weeks. More details on the project will be released shortly.
