U16A Strike Late to Earn Point

CSL Division 1
Leeds 2 – 2 Mallow United A

Mallow United U16A Boys traveled to Leeds Park last Sunday morning with both teams level on points in the top half of the table and well in contention for honours. Mallow dominated the first 20 mins and got their reward with a great strike from a Joe Power free kick. Trailing by a goal Leeds began to come into the game and after threatening from a series of corners eventually got the equaliser they deserved.

In the second half Leeds began to dominate and took the lead with 15 minutes remaining in what was a very physical game, with a number of players receiving yellow cards.
Despite going a goal behind Mallow kept the pressure on the Leeds defence and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty with 5 minutes remaining. As the game entered injury time the persistence of the Mallow boys finally payed off when Bill Kingston netted a late equaliser and a share of the spoils.

This was another excellent performance from a team that once again demonstrated their never say die attitude.
