NEW HEAD COACH FOR GIRLS

13 Jan 2019 by Mallow United PRO

Mallow United are delighted to announce the appointment of a new head coach for the girls section of the club with the hugely experienced Charlie Lynch taking up the role. Charlie has an impressive CV which includes a UEFA B coaching license and has previously coached a number of Munster Senior League mens sides before turning his attention to women and girls soccer in the last 11 years. During that time Charlie has managed Cork City Womens and started the Cork City Girls Academy. He has also seen success as manager of a number of Cork Schoolgirls sides in the Gaynor Cup interleague competition.

The Mallow United girls section has grown from strength to strength since it was started three years ago under the leadership of Kim Walsh. By introducing a coach with the knowledge and experience of Charlie the club is aiming to both increase the number of girls playing soccer locally and also to bring female soccer in the town to the level where Mallow is competing with the best clubs in Munster.

2019 sees women and girls soccer in Cork switch to a summer season with the league campaign running from spring 2019 to autumn 2019. The club is inviting girls born in 2002, 2003 & 2004 to attend trials for their Under 17 and U15 girls teams on Saturday 19th of January from 11.30am to 12.30pm at St. Marys Secondary School Sports Pitch.

Due to increasing numbers and in preparation for the new season Mallow United have also revised their training schedule for girls. The new times are as follows; Under 7, Under 9 and Under 11 year old girls training from 5.45pm to 7pm at St. Mary’s Sports Hall, every Tuesday and Under 13 and Under 15 year olds training from 9.30am to 11am at St. Mary’s Sports Hall, every Saturday morning. New players are welcome to all sessions. For further details contact Judy Long on 083 4043268 or info@mallowunited.com.
