U14A Back To Winning Ways

11 Oct 2018 by Mallow United PRO

CSL U14 Division 5
Douglas Hall A 0 – 1 Mallow United A

Mallow United Boys U14 A team returned to winning ways on their travels to Douglas Hall last Sunday morning. After suffering their first league defeat of 2018 in their previous match, Mallow put in an excellent performance to secure a valuable away win. Mallow started the game brightly and had their hosts on the back foot for most of the first half. Good build up play from Donough Ryan, Kieran Buckley and Andrew Sheehan resulted in a busy time for the Douglas Hall defence. The winning goal resulted from a period of sustained pressure from Mallow which forced a rushed clearance from the Douglas Hall defence, which Emmet Lyons capitalised on to score the opening, and ultimately only goal of the game. The second half saw Mallow continue to have most of the ball, but could not add to the score line. The defence of Christopher McSweeney, Bed Ford and Ben Fitzgibbon kept any Douglas attacks to a minimum and any Douglas Hall shots on target were dealt with by stand-in goalkeeper Craig Hogan with confidence. The coaches wish to thanks all parents/guardians for their continued support.
