Mayfield United 0 – 4 Mallow United

Mallow United Juniors began 2018 with the kind of form they have been showing all season with a convincing away win at Mayfield United. Jay Clow opened the scoring after 8 minutes with a great individual effort, working his way through the defence on the left side before beating the Mayfield keeper. Minutes later Clow got his second when he slotted home a low cross from Joe Carroll who had showed great determination on the right before providing the assist. Carroll then got on the score sheet himself when he got on the end of a Mallow attack and found the bottom corner with a fine finish leaving the keeper with little chance. Mallow were 3-0 up after only 20 minutes but then spurned a number of great chances that could have put the result beyond doubt by half time. Mayfield enjoyed a better share of the game in the second half however Mallow always looked liked they had the potential to get another if needed. After a neat exchange at the edge of the box at the 60 minute mark Clow got a well deserved third for himself and fourth for Mallow slotting home from 12 yards. Mallow took the three points and get the year off to a great start as they continue their push for the title.
