Cork Schoolgirls League U12 Division 2

Park United 2 – 1 Mallow United

On Saturday morning, Mallow United U12 Schoolgirls had a short distance to travel for their first competitive match in the Cork Women’s and Schoolgirls Soccer League as they visited Mitchelstown to play Park United in a north Cork derby.

Both teams braved the elements and played a good, sporting match. In the first half, the girls were unlucky to go one goal down, however they continued to create chances. Both keepers were kept busy and Park United pressed for another goal, which eventually came to fruition. In the second half, the Mallow girls really got to grips with the game, pressing hard for a goal and it duly arrived thanks to captain Niamh Williams. Unfortunately, this time out Mallow were unable to level the score, but it was a great team effort until the final whistle.

Lessons were learned and fun was had by all. Mallow United girls look forward to more competitive games in the coming weeks and building experience as they move through the league.
