U17s Fight Back to Take a Point in Cobh

5 Sep 2017 by Mallow United PRO

Cork Youth League U17 Division 1
Springfield Ramblers 3 – 3 Mallow United

In what was a thrilling encounter in Cobh on Sunday afternoon Mallow started brightly with a well taken goal by Gavin Carey following a brilliant cross from Dean Twomey. Two more chances were created by Josh Wilkinson and Carey but Mallow couldn’t capitalise before Springfield got back on level terms. Two minutes later Mallow fell further behind to a splendid free kick. Springfield continued to press and were rewarded with a third just before half time. The introduction of Sean McDonnell and Jack O’Callaghan after the break turned the tide back in Mallows favour as both players assisted in the recovery spell which led to the two Mallow goals coming from Dean Twomey and Jonah Delaney. The goals brought the score to 3-3 which was the final score and on reflection a fair result.

Mallow remain unbeaten in the league after taking 7 points from a possible 9. Next up is a home game against Coachford in the Academy Pitch next Sunday afternoon with a 2pm kick-off. Your support is welcome.
