Well done to Mallow United U13A players on their Con Elliot Cup semi-final win over Lakewood Athletic. It was a very close and hard-fought match with Lakewood having more of the possession but Mallow defended well with great performances in the centre back partnership of Alvin Kurier and Porag Islam. Although Mallow had chances on the counter attack they found it difficult to find the back of the net until with 5 minutes to go, and the match looking like it would head for extra-time, Sean O’Riordan played a great through ball and Ronan O’Sullivan ran on and slotted it past the keeper. Lakewood threw everything forward for the last few minutes but Mallow defended well and held on for win and the prize of a Cup Final appearance against Corinthians.
